About Us
IRG - Istituto di Ricerche Genetiche
The Institute of Genetic Research was founded in Naples by a team of expert researchers, committed to research and diagnosis of the causes of human infertility.
Our know-how is focused on prenatal genetic diagnosis and also includes the study of molecular infectious diseases, infertility and spontaneous and recurrent abortion, highlighting the importance of polymorphic variants in immune tolerance and maternal endometrial receptivity, in addition to the implementation of molecular tests.
of genetic predisposition.
Between 1999 and 2008 we collaborated with the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Neonatology of the Second University of Naples to provide specialized genetic counseling, including:
cytogenetic, biochemical and molecular analyses on amniotic fluid samples, fetal blood and chorionic biopsies.
Since 2000, in synergy with its clinical activity, the IRG has been among the first in Italy to perform combined screening related to fetal chromosomal abnormalities in the first trimester of pregnancy (NIPT) and has recently started screening for early preeclampsia.
